Set in the leafy village of Cobham, our clients loved where they lived but they were aware that they could make more of the family home that they were so fond of.
They knew how they would like their improvements to feel – they wanted to create a beautiful yet flexible kitchen and entertaining space that would let the light pour in to warm the family and social gatherings that they looked forward to planning.
With a brief to expand, extend and adapt their family home, our clients knew that they wanted to create an open space for living and dining while making the most of their family’s sleeping space.
We began by demolishing the existing rear kitchen and began building from the ground up again with a double storey rear extension.
We loved the idea of making more space and light yet we wanted keep the element of warmth that pervaded their home. We created a snug to maintain the sense of comfort and relaxation while making plenty of room and space to entertain in a new kitchen diner.
The ground floor features an internal double sided fireplace that acts as a wall that divides the snug from the dining room, which allows daylight to breathe life into the centre of house without constructing a floor to ceiling wall.
On the second floor, we were able to help everyone find a place of their own to relax in, creating a master bedroom, an en-suite with dressing room and a fourth bedroom to take care of guests and sleepovers.
The finishing touch on this property came in the form of the innovative glazing techniques we utilised and the large glass sliding doors to the rear that emphasises the lightness of the design.
